"Space Monkey" is a song from Louisville, Ky., indie band the Uncommon Houseflies; it appears on the band's 2012 release, Wretched Radio. Written by guitarist Butch Bays, the song (which sort of sounds like a cross between David Bowie and Led Zeppelin) is a tribute of sorts to the hairy astronauts who were such a big part of the early NASA program. This stop-motion video tells the story of one such astronaut. Hey, if the mission is too dangerous for a human being? You send a monkey. Ground control to "Major Tom" ...
