I was the person that caught the Transit Driver Kidnaps Passengers on video.

After several calls and two days passed, and no one contacted me from the transit.
I then sent a direct email to BC Transit Corporate offices, with a description of my experiences, and a direct link to the video.

I had faith that the Transit System would do the public right and fix this problem. At no time were any compensations requested, no demands were made of any kind other than to ensure a safer, reliable bus system. This event has been negative all around for myself, and my reasoning to bring it to light was to show the Transit Commission that a problem does indeed exist.

Some folks think its about personal gain, however if anything it has cost me money & time. In an attempt to avoid another situation, or escalation I have been taxing, well past the $1600.00, So you see the motive for presenting the video was to ensure that BC Transit was aware of the situation so this complaint would actually taken seriously.

Most of the public input was supportive in nature, and I personally was shocked to hear how many other people had made complaints, and had never heard a response. However, it has become clear that those complaints fell on deaf ears.

I heard that the Transit Commission has downplayed the event and are taking an offensive stance. Even making false statements, as no one from BC Transit has made contact, even after several days and calls.

There was nothing to personally gain from this, other than knowing a safer system was going to be left for everyone. Bus Drivers, Citizens and many others have heard this message, and have written to show their support, and let me know that this is not the first time, or only time people have made complaints or had issues with this guy. They have never heard back.

In the end, the complain goes nowhere, the Transit System is supposed to be a Community and Public Service. However as long as its run as a Unionized and Privatized "Business", the "Service" aspect will always be sacrificed. I recommend that the Transit Commission put cameras on their buses, then "plausible denial" would no longer be an option for tossing legitimate complaints.

Its very disappointing, and discouraging that the Transit would take the low road on this.

Original VIDEO Description

The bus driver blew through a couple stops and when confronted he said the young lady in the back was angry at him a couple weeks ago. (Apparently for missing her stop). Par for the course for a driver or so. I would have imagined.

But not only after refusing the stops today, the bus driver then parks the bus at the TRU Exchange, locks the doors. Holding myself and the lady against our will, and delaying us even more. He then comes to the back of the bus, and photographs her, like WTF, I get sketched out and now start recording, Here he is up in my face, I want off this bus its crazy, and I don't like being trapped, freaks me out but he's blocking the stairs as we try to leave. We are being illegally held while a driver gets into our faces, the doors are even locked tight,I hate being trapped but their locked hard, I am getting sick, this is nuts. I try both sets trying to leave.I can't leave.. OMG Let me out.. .. Now I,.. we are delayed how long? What the hell is going on? I am taken for a ride, locked in, driver is taking photos, WHAT is wrong with this guy, is this real?

So.. as you see finally, were off the bus a long ways from work and cabbing the rest of the way.

The buses are supposed to be safe friendly. I am 6'3 the lady 140 lbs how sickening, a thought it is that she might have been alone today. What is with locking the doors, the photos? Like its just crazy man, this in on public transit. Stupid, scary, unprofessional, and disturbing situation.

We are both Senior Professionals in Kamloops, I though the transit system wanted to attract working people and professionals.

A few tips:
Try adjusting routes to ensure that buses arrive at "working destinations" before the hour instead of 20 mins past (for routes that run once an hour)

Label routes properly ex 10-10 10-5 the one that goes to Pineview.

No Sunday service for working folks, taking the bus requires a $30.00 cab reserve on hand to ensure you reach your destination. (Really any day of the week)

I can fly to Vancouver faster than transit can get me to Aberdeen, If its Sunday I can come back too.

It does not make seance to have a bus that is early at its stops, myself and 6 neighbors walking to the stop watched the bus drive by 7 minutes before its time, on Tranquille and on Sunday so an hours wait. Really, whats the point? note: 7 minutes is 10000 feet of travel walking, but still way to far too run to catch the bus.

But, please fix customer service issues first.
