Running a marathon is no easy task. Running it blindfolded makes it even harder. But that's exactly what 40-year-old Chris Cavallerano did in April.

After years of being involved with the National Braille Press, a nonprofit braille publisher, the CrossFit New England member chose to run this year's Boston Marathon blindfolded with a guide and raise money for the National Braille Press.

"I went into it thinking this is going to be basically a 26-round fight," Cavallerano explains. "And I just have to be prepared to get knocked down a lot, but just to get up as quickly and stronger every time."

He finished the race in 5:39:58.

"Having the physical capabilities that CrossFit gave me, having the discipline around nutrition, and then having that mental toughness, that indomitable spirit shall we say, that really carried me home," he says.

"It was an amazing experience."
