In this graphic novel published by Annick Press, authors Sharon E. McKay and Daniel Lafrance address the issue of child soldiers in Uganda. Although the authors have fictionalized the tale, it closely mirrors the real life incidents that racked the country. The video book trailer uses Daniel Lafrance's striking artwork and snippets of the poignant, powerful text as just a small sampling of the artists skills capturing the hard core essence of life as a child soldier. Narration is provided by Toolit Ivan, a young man currently living in Gulu, Uganda and was recorded there specifically for this video. The music is also entirely authentic -- the song is "African Children (Black Children)" performed and recorded in Africa by Ugandan stars Rax & Romeo. Sung in English and Luo Acholi, it's been hugely popular in Africa and is now making fans across the water. The power of its message echoes that of the book and video, a perfect complement.
