Cole is 9 and he has OCD and High-functioning Autism. He is a strong kid and isn't afraid to challenge his "Worry Monster" (what we call OCD) He was going to bed and he saw a cob web on the window. It "worried" him because he thought there might be an egg and baby spiders were going to go everywhere all over the house and all over him and he just got more and more worked up (we call this catastrophizing). He wanted to move to a different room. We began the exposure before I thought to grab the camera. He is been in intense therapy for a year, so he knows the process and you can see that his anxiety dissipates really quickly. It's important to note that he has to choose to participate and teach his brain that this situation is not a threatening situation. If I had scooped up the cobwebs and put them on him it would have only reinforced his fear.
