The Sophie Lancaster Foundation is a charity that aims to promote the positive nature of different subcultures, to campaign for tolerance within society, and to provide a lasting legacy for Sophie, a young, intelligent, caring and beautiful girl who was murdered, simply because she dressed differently.

Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were savagely attacked in August 2007 without provocation, by a group of teenage boys. Robert was beaten unconscious then the youths turned on Sophie who was cradling her boyfriend, trying to protect him. The attacks were brutal and described by the leading police officer in the case as one of the most violent murders he has come across in his lengthy career. The five violent offenders received sentences ranging from four years to life. They showed no remorse.

Sophie (S tamp Out Prejudice Hatred + Intolerance Everywhere) would like to raise awareness of the Foundation and seek support for its core aims educating young people to celebrate diversity, as well as bring about a change in the Hate Crime legislation to include attacks on alternative cultures.

Sophie Lancaster was a caring, sensitive and intelligent girl who was murdered because she was different.
