The Dow Chemical Company Foundation will help launch the National Society of Black Engineers "Summer Engineering Experience for Kids"—SEEK—program for the first time this summer in Detroit. Dow has pledged a grant of $100,000 to support the three-week program to be held in July and August for students in the third through 8th grades. During the program 300 students will be paired with 50 African-American college student mentors who will facilitate the program.

The Mondi Group has released its 2011 sustainable development report, which outlines the company's performance highlights of last year. They include an increase in the use of renewable energy sources to 57 percent; FSC or PEFC certification of 61 percent of wood supply; listing at the advanced level by the UN Global Compact; the internal production of 93 percent of electricity used; and the planting of 32 million seedlings. Mondi is an international paper and packaging group with production operations in 28 countries.
