Although Palliative Care has recently had unprecedented coverage in the mainstream media many myths and misunderstandings persist. This is talk is intended to both educate and motivate. After this talk you will know what Palliative Care and Palliative Medicine are, as well as how they relate to Hospice and End of Life care. You will also understand why this knowledge is important to both you and those you love. Because Dr. Campbell believes that extending the principles of Palliative Medicines to people from all walks of life is a humanist cause, she will also share concrete steps you can take to help reduce the suffering of people who face serious health challenges.

Ginger Campbell originally trained as a Family Physician but she has spent over twenty years practicing emergency medicine in rural Alabama. She recently embarked on a new career and is currently nearing completion of Fellowship training in Palliative Medicine at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Dr. Campbell has a passion of sharing science and ideas with people from all backgrounds. She is best known for her popular Brain Science Podcast, which has been reaching a world-wide audience since 2006. Her other podcast Books and Ideas has featured many topics and guests of interest to humanists including an interview with AHA President Rebecca Hale.
