A ranch hand out mending the fence paused because the song of a meadowlark caught her attention. Every shade of beauty from every meadow she ever traversed burst through in the bird's song, and drew a picturebook of memories from her mind. Like the meadowlark, she was full of life, activity, and fire. Every day was a crowded parade of life experiences; joys, sorrows, angers, remorses, storms, sunshine, rain, daybreak, dusk. They were all there, listening to the little bird sing. They came to cause pause for a few minutes, then evaporated in the New Mexico sun. Broomy boughs of pine raked the wind, pulling out music which fell upon her ears. Their memory would last an eternity.
The music was orchestrated for a string orchestra, solo flute, bassetto, horn, harp, vibraphone and moog synthesizer.
