This imagistic video retells the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur through an art historical lens. It also gives a little more attention to a couple figures usually relegated on the sidelines, Pasiphae and Ariadne. Pasiphae is the minotaur's mother, King Minos wife and lover of the white bull by which the minotaur is conceived. Ariadne is daughter of Minos and friend, perhaps lover to Theseus to whom she gave the golden klew (ball) of thread so that Theseus may find his way out of the labyrinth. Theseus later abandons Ariadne on the island of Naxos and this retelling highlights these mythic details within the basic story. For a general overview of the myth, see http://tinyurl.com/zs468t8
