This piano duet with Hope Garner, a student of mine, took place at Chocolate Springs Cafe. Hope is one of the most naturally expressive musicians I know. This improvised duet proves it!
Over the course of thirty years, I've improvised with hundreds of individuals on four continents—individuals ranging in age from 18 months to 85 years, as well as those with a variety of developmental disabilities, including Down syndrome, blindness and autism. Without fail, each person who has ever sat with me at the piano has created music of disarming originality. The conclusion is significant: that beauty is inherent to us all regardless of age, culture or background, and its expression is unfettered by any limitation. It is becoming clear to me that, in essence, we are all creative beings. This is the powerful and catalytic message I'm endeavoring to bring to the world.
