At Money in the Bank, World Heavyweight Champion Drew McIntyre defied tremendous odds and defeated Edge to retain his title. But as one problem ends, another potential one arises.
McIntyre's former ally Wade Barrett was triumphant in the Money in the Bank ladder match, and now has an opportunity at the World Heavyweight title in his posession at any time, any place. And after a heated confrontation a few weeks ago, there's likely nothing more Barrett would like than to cash in on his former friend and take the World Heavyweight Championship from him. Are McIntyre's days as champion numbered? At any rate, both will be in action tonight, as McIntyre faces Evan Bourne in non-title action. Barrett will be facing John Morrison in a rematch from last week's Smackdown.
Last week on Smackdown, Zach Starr retained his United States Championship in a four way match against Justin Gabriel, David Otunga, and Connor Wine. Starr will be defending the title next at Extreme Rules; he'll learn his challenger tonight, as David Otunga and Zack Ryder face off in a number one contender's match.
And finally, at Money in the Bank, Belmont defeated the Apex Predator, Randy Orton, in a very heated and personal contest. Tonight Belmont will be in action against Chris Johansen; but is it really over between Orton and Belmont?
