In this clip, State Representatives Mark Meadows (East Lansing), Joan Bauer (Lansing) and Barb Byrum (Onondaga) stand alongside parents, teachers and school officials at a press conference in Lansing on Monday, June 27, 2011, to call on the Governor and legislative Republicans to restore the devastating budget cuts to Michigan's schools and protect the state's School Aid Fund from unnecessary raids in the future. The press conference was held at Woodcreek Elementary, a magnet school focused on teaching math, science and engineering, which the Lansing Board of Education voted to close due to continued cuts to education funding. As school districts finalize their budgets for the upcoming year, we are seeing what impact these cuts will have on the classrooms and the quality of our children's education.
