The Janssen Connected Care Challenge http://bit.ly/JanssenCare, rallied entrepreneurs for their best ideas that utilize technology to improve the coordination of care for patients as they are discharged from the hospital. Hosted by Janssen Healthcare Innovation http://bit.ly/JanssenInnovate, a team within Janssen Research & Development, LLC, the challenge is a crowdsourcing-inspired contest designed to spur innovation and drive action towards achieving better care and better health at lower cost through continuous improvement. Three finalists were awarded $50,000 each to develop a prototype of their solution and the entrepreneurs refined their concepts with a team of mentors. The finalists including Cara Health, Care Rocket and Discharge Decision Support System (D2S2) presented their ideas to a panel of judges at Demo Day on May 10, 2012 in New York City. The winner of the Janssen Connected Care Challenge will be announced on May 23, 2012 and they will receive $100,000 to help develop their solution for commercialization.
