VOICE CHAT: Disabling it for yourself & on land
"Voice Chat" can be disabled in several ways, depending on your needs. If you want to disable your own voice chat, select Edit menu -- Preferences -- Voice Chat and uncheck the box next to "Enable Voice Chat". You will no longer see the voice controls at the bottom of the screen and you will not be able to listen to other people talking. To turn it back on, you can click the box next to "Enable Voice Chat". An icon at the top will indicate that voice chat is disabled. If you are a landowner you can click on "About Land" -- Media tab -- Voice and select the radio button next to "Disable spatial audio on this parcel". You can also select "Use a private spatial channel" which will restrict people outside your parcel from being able to hear what's being said within, or you can select "Use the Estate spatial channel", which is the "normal" setting. You can disable voice estate-wide by going to World menu -- Region/Estate -- Estate tab and deselect the box in front of "Allow Voice Chat".
