The 1999 NCAA Tournament was historically notable as the coming-out party for Gonzaga as a rising mid-major team. The Zags would go on to beat seventh-seeded Minnesota, second-seeded Stanford, and sixth-seeded Florida before falling to top-seeded Connecticut, who would go on to win the first national championship in team history.
