In a bleak, economically depressed and dangerous future society with grave similarities to the present, ""Crabs"" takes his date, Carmen, to the Drive-In and learns the real purpose of the theater's existence. As part of a government ploy to reduce unemployment figures and social security costs, the Drive-In serves as a concentration camp for society's cast-offs ... the weak, unemployed and unemployable. Here, inmates are sated with contentment, junk movies, music, food, drugs and contraceptives in an environment preferable for them to the rough outside world. Trapped, ""Crabs"" panics and fights for for his freedom with a sense of purpose he's never known before.
