A performance by Terry Adkins on the occasion of Radical Presence: Black Performance in Contemporary Art at The Studio Museum in Harlem.
A provocative reflection on political life, Postlude (Corpus Specere) is a meditation on texts related to germinal scholar W.E.B. Du Bois's activism and anti-lynching campaign activities beginning in the summer of 1917. Bringing together spoken word, live instrumentation and video footage, the ensemble considers Du Bois and the dawn of the civil rights movement through contemporary art.
Performed with Dread Scott, Jamaladeen Tacuma and Robert Wisdom.
This program is organized by Thomas J. Lax, Assistant Curator and Edwin Ramoran, Manager of Public Programs and Community Engagement with Monique Long, Curatorial Fellow.
