We go behind the scenes to a company still making juke boxes.
Rock-Ola Manufacturing began in Chicago Illinois in 1914. David C. Rockola started out distributing and then became known as the largest manufacturer of coin operated devices. In the 1930’s, Rock-Ola started making juke boxes along with three other manufacturers in the US and one in Germany. Then in 1992, the two sons of David C. Rockola sold the business to Glenn Streeter. Streeter was owner of Antique Apparatus. The company bought old juke boxes among other antiques, refurbished and sold them. Streeter was thrilled to buy the well known juke box company and began manufacturing the products at his facility in Torrance, California. Rock-Ola is now the only manufacturer in America of Nostalgic Juke Boxes and is housed in a 40,000 square foot warehouse and office space. Rock-Ola is distributed all over the world. Meet the owner and see how this old time favorite is still being made.
