Music In Praise Of Ahura Mazda" is Maryam Akhondy's newest project. In this musical creation she merges traditional Iranian art music and lyrics, which has to do with the old Zoroastrian religion and philosophy. First performance had been at Musica Sacra International Festival 2012 in Marktoberdorf (Germany). Location of this recording was the old chateau in the city of Füssen

"Pir e Moghan", the title of this piece of music (composed by Maryam Akhondy and arranged by Farzin Darabi Far), would mean in English "The wise man from the tavern". Hafez, the great Persian poet, wrote

As long as there is a trace of wine and taverns
my head will be in the dust on the way to the innkeeper
Beg for mercy once at my headstone
for it will be a place of pilgrimage for drunks
The innkeeper's ring will hang for ever on my ear
I am what I once was, what my dust will one day be
Go, blind hermit, go
because the secret is hidden from you and me
and it always will be
As long as Hafis' luck is not so favourable
your darling's hair will be in the hands of someone else
