Former Councilmember Harry Thomas Jr. spoke about McMillan Park circa 2011. He mentions how his father fought for redevelopment funding, particularly for a library, police station, and a recreation center. The current plans by Vision McMillan Partners has no library or police station, and a small recreation center. The current plans do depict tall structures including an 115-foot high medical office building among other immense density & largely unaffordable residential space without a Metro stop. Imagine a privatized "Rossyln 2.0" suburban town center. Why did the fence stay up after WW2? McMillan was one of DC's first integrated spaces.
