President of the Wisconsin Professional Fire Fighters union, Mahlon Mitchell, delivers an impassioned speech to a crowd of 20,000 union workers and their families in Pershing Square in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, March 26, 2011. His appearance is one of the main attractions at the "We Are One" rally, which caps a day of marching through the streets of LA, to show solidarity with the public sector workers in Wisconsin and around the nation who are under attack from corporate Republican governors who want to strip their collective bargaining rights.

Mitchell pumps up the crowd with a chant that was popular at the three-week-long protest in Madison, he tells of his interaction with Governor Scott Walker - who wanted the fire fighters and police to look the other way, as he lay waste to the other public unions - and he describes elements of Walker's infamous bill, while setting the Wisconsin fight in a national context.

Mitchell is clearly a hit with the crowd, and while his passion gets the better of him at times, his overall cadence and presentation style are reminiscent of President Obama. Mitchell's full remarks are presented here.
