So, some of you were not hanging around here last year, when I was building "The Bridge" guitar. This guitar was a surprise gift my friend Christina commissioned me to make back in 2012 as a surprise gift for her nephew Mike's (and Laura's!) wedding that was coming up in a year (2013). We were concerned as to how I would go about this because I wanted to make him a guitar that he would like, but he couldn't know that I was building this for him. A couple days went by and I came up with an ingenious idea! I had her email him a bogus survey that was helping my company grow and was asking *random* guitarists what THEY thought would be the "perfect" guitar. It took quite a bit of poking and prodding to get him to fill it out, but he finally did it... this survey went all the way down to asking him what type of nut he prefers (Bone or Graphite!). I also asked at the end of the survey what would be the coolest inlay to put on a fingerboard and he said either the Brooklyn Bridge or the Manhattan skyline. He got punked! We went through with this amazing build and not only that, I ended up making a bogus DVD that they played for him that appeared to be a documentary about the Brooklyn Bridge, but it was also a spoof! ALL of YOU fans were begging for me to have someone film his reaction of him getting this guitar and last week I finally got not only all of that footage, but also a really cool film of him playing the Bridge guitar for his wife at their wedding. Here is the film of him getting the surprise!
