The Triad Commute Challenge Commuter Dash was the kick-off event for the Sixth Annual Triad Commute Challenge which takes place March 10th -- June 10, 2012. The Challenge encourages participants to try an alternate commute option (bike, walk, bus, vanpool, carpool, telecommute) at least one time over the three month period instead of driving alone.
This year we kicked off the Triad Commute Challenge with the Commuter Dash 5K run/walk event in Downtown Winston-Salem! This USA Track and Field Certified 5K race was held on Saturday, March 10th and was officially timed. Registration for the Commuter Dash was FREE and open to the public! The course was challenging with an "Out and Back on the Strollway from Downtown to the Greenway. Runners faced a decline out and incline up to the finish at Civic Plaza. The morning was a little chilly, but that didn't keep away the 200 runners who participated in this great event!
