Autumn ballade- Filmed in Ascot- England 25th Oct 09.

Music: Ken Ishii Remix, Come Out. Steve Reich Remixed 2006.

This video is almost entirely driven by an interest for visual and auditory patterns, its a basic brain stimulation. There is not much higher thought level, or symbolism in this. However, the feelings these combined sensory stimulations make to individuals, including myself, can be very unique and very different from the initial motives of the clip. I can see lots of images that bring further thoughts, but these are occurring by chance, not deliberately, I am pretty sure other thoughts will come on different days.

If you are not familiar with Steve Reichs music, try to listen to some pieces, like Drumming for example, a remarkable percussion transcription, draw their energy and, in an odd way, their substance, from an aural illusion. Their component lines, heard individually, are melodically and rhythmically simple. Yet Mr. Reichs phasing technique of slowly altering the lines while also moving them out of synchronization, yields an overlay of phantom patterns. The listener hears them and inevitably focuses on them, but the players arent exactly playing them.

If you listen to this, try this, fully relaxed, for example, in the middle of the night, in absolute calmness with no extra stimulation around.

The whole piece generates meta rhythm out of simple patterns, these change so subtly, like life itself can change, without anyone clearly noticing the shifts that have taken place.

The video is a little bit like an attempt to recreate a visual illusion.
