I was “meant” to be a Writer, even though I didn’t realize it during the first half of my life … and even though I was writing every chance I could.. Now I’ve embraced who I am – and it’s okay (mostly) that I’m a guy who can barely change a lightbulb. At least I can write speeches, video scripts and song lyrics (my passion.)
It gives me enormous satisfaction, then, to use one of my songs to do good in the world. It’s called, “I Will Carry You” (“IWCY”) and I wrote it with Paul Guzzone. It’s available for online purchase in Paul’s own voice (he’s a talented singer AND composer AND musician) as well as in this version, beautifully sung by Shara Strand for D1 Music.
Shara’s version and remixes became a Top 25 hit for me (#23) on the BILLBOARD Dance Club chart. The fact that I was working with the best Dance song promoter in the business, @BobbyShaw, didn’t hurt a bit!
Now I’m hoping that “IWCY” and this video – which I find deeply touching – will help raise funds for research made possible by the Rottweiler Health Foundation … a dedicated non-profit team that is determined to end the osteosarcoma (bone cancer) that plagues the “Rottie” breed.
I learned of this situation from my good friend, John Cassesse, who got Stella – who’s just over six years old, as I write this – when she was just a pup. Stella is afflicted with the cancer. Having met her, I can tell you: she is ADORABLE. I can also feel – it’s easy -- how much John cares about Stella, as does her other “boyfriend”, Ken Hunt.
At the least, I hope you’ll enjoy the song – and the wonderful photos of Stella that have been captured during her life. In truth, though, I hope you’ll consider making a donation to the Rottweiler Health Foundation … and let them know that you're doing it in honor of Ms. Stella Cassesse.
A complete list of credits follows at the video’s end. My salute and sincere thanks go to everyone mentioned. But I must single out one person: Gil Polk.
This video was made possible because of Gil’s tech-savvy mind and loving heart. He’s a composer with whom I collaborate, but he’s also a wonderful video editor/producer. If you’d like to hire him to assemble a video for you – for business or for personal purpose – I know he’ll do a great job. He’s also an absolute pleasure to work with. Gil can create from your own images (as John provided them for Stella) … or Gil can obtain images for you, if you need him to. You’ll find his contact info in the closing acknowledgements.
