Some footage I managed to take from my backyard of the Venus Transit June 6th 2012. Most of the duration of the event was covered with thick cloud but managed to get some photo's and video of Venus as it passed the Sun.
I used a Canon A2200 to take photo's directly through the eye piece of a Celestron 76 GT motorised Reflector telescope. I used CHDK with an intervalometer script on the A2200 to take photo's every 4 to 10 seconds.
I also used my Nikon D3100 DSLR with a 70mm Refractor telescope as a prime focus lens to take video and some photo's of the transit.
Not the best footage but I thought it was good enough to share what I had captured on the day as I waited for any opportunity of the cloud clearing to take imagery of this event which won't be happening again in my life time.
A lot of the images I have processed in Light Room to add colour.
I used a home made solar filter to cover the telescopes in order to view and take photo's. Baader AstroSolar Safety Film was used to make the filters.
Music was composed in Acid Music Studio 8.
Editing was done in Adobe Premiere Elements 10. Image retouching Light Room 3 and Photoshop Elements. Photoshop CS6 (Trial) ws used to manually align 1st time lapse sequence.
