Grupo Financiero Inbursa Headquarters is a new 21,000 m2 blue glass box building. The site was integrated by the separate purchase of several small tracts of land over the years. This defined a horizontal volume of 95 meters long and only 2-stories high at street level. The building stands on Palmas Avenue, one of the most exclusive areas of Mexico City surrounded by vertical office towers and wealthy residential neighborhoods. We wanted the building to be different than its urban context. Since most of the mass of the construction had to be below grade because of building restrictions, the facade acquired a foremost role in achieving this strong urban presence. After much experimenting, we concluded that the use of color would be the most successful way. Colored glass could offer a strongly saturated surface when viewed from the outside, but transparent when seen from the inside.
