Matt Olson of Hinckely-Big Rock Middle School in Big Rock, Ill used a NEA Foundation-Nickelodeon Big Help Grant to teach students about the pros and cons of using alternative energy and give them skills for the green jobs of the future. Students conducted research, designed and built solar cars and wind turbines, and investigated other possible solutions for the current energy crisis. The funds even help build a wind turbine at their school for use as a learning tool and to help power the school. Watch the video and hear the students' oohs and aahs as they discover for themselves the power of alternative energy.
