Unbelievable recent find , thanks to Sally Ann shop in my home town. Tired but playable copy of H.B Barnum's " The Record" on Capitol demo. Released in 1965 this beat ballad was a cover of Ben E. King's second single on Atlantic from 1962. This oone , very popular on the early 80's Northern scene thanks to it's inclusion on a Kent album ( I cannot remember which one , was it " On the Soul side ? ! Anyone ? ) were it first came to my attention. Always loved it and wondered what it was about till my Dad told me that in the sixties at fairgrounds and amusment arcade there was little booths were you could go in and record a little aluminum record of any of the hits of the day with your own voice overdubbed. Sweet. Yearn for those old days....Happy easter folks. This is your easter egg. lol
