It was a pleasure and an honor to meet the legendary Erin Brockovich. We interviewed Erin for IAMECO Warrior at the annual Captain Planet Foundation (CPF) Gala, one of the Southeast's largest eco-benefits, where she received the Protector of the Earth award. At the gala, CPF presents awards that recognize people for their extraordinary environmental stewardship and change-making.

The Captain Planet Foundation gala raises funds for CPF's programs, which have funded more than 1,700 high quality, hands-on environmental education projects in K-12 schools and non-profits serving children in all 50 states and 22 other countries. More than one million children have directly participated in and benefited from these projects.

"If you follow your heart, if you listen to your gut and if you extend your hand to help another, not for any agenda, but for the sake of humanity, you are going to find the truth."

Erin Brockovich is a Consumer Advocate and environmental activist, who, despite the lack of a formal education in the law, was instrumental in building a case against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) of California in 1993.

Since the release of the Oscar-winning film that shares her story and name, she has hosted Challenge America with Erin Brockovich on ABC and Final Justice on Zone Reality. She is the president of Brockovich Research & Consulting and works as a consultant for the New York law firm of Weitz & Luxenberg, and Shine Lawyers in Australia.

Today Erin and her team are investigating the full extent of GM's defective ignition switch that has threatened the safety of drivers for a decade. With her team of environmental scientists and lawyers, Erin is presently undertaking investigations to identify the cause behind the Louisiana Sinkhole. Erin is also leading the Liptor lawsuit, the Essure Campaign and is standing beside the thousands of women impacted by Vaginal Mesh.

"We've got to start finding ways to get people to report it, so we can see it. That's the only thing that's going to change anything."

It's been 12 years since Julia Roberts starred in the Oscar-winning tour de force "Erin Brockovich". The film turned an unknown legal researcher into a 20th century icon by showcasing how her dogged persistence was the impelling force behind the largest medical settlement lawsuit in history. Since then, Erin hasn't been resting on her laurels... she continues to fight hard and win big!

Say the name Erin Brockovich and you think, strong, tough, stubborn and sexy. Erin is all that and definitely more. She is a modern-day "David" who loves a good brawl with today's "Goliaths." She thrives on being the voice for those who don't know how to yell. She is a rebel. She is a fighter. She is a mother. She is a woman. And she is an Eco Warrior too:

"Collectively as a group, we become one Warrior of the Eco-system, which is the planet. It's our job, our duty, our obligation. I am an Eco warrior, and I'm damn proud to be one."
