Intro to Lockscreens - Android Theming 101, Episode 4

In this episode of Android Theming 101 we'll be focusing on lockscreens. Now, just like our previous video on launchers, this is just a simple guide to help you what is the best lockscreen app for you. This video will describe the basics, as well as give a brief overview of the top 2 most popular lockscreens, excluding the stock lockscreen.

If you are using Gingerbread, I highly recommend Holo Locker, that gives you a stock Ice Cream Sandwich look as well as some useful extras (plus version), here is the link (Requires Holo Launcher):

If you are wondering why my stock lockscreen looks different, I'm currently running a custom ROM (Resurrection Remix 3.1.2).

Here are the two WidgetLocker Custom Sliders I used in the video:

There are 3 ways to install a widgetlocker custom slider theme:*

1. When clicking on a link in the form of, chose WidgetLocker to open the link rather then your browser. WidgetLocker will download and install the theme.

2. Open the file on your phone (From the Downloads window or Astro or similar). You may be asked which app to open it with, you can safely say "Select default" and chose WidgetLocker. WidgetLocker will only be the default for "" files, not all zip files.

Then you'll see an install screen as shown on the right where. After installing, the theme will be an option when adding a custom slider.

3. Alternatively, you may manually copy the "" file to your SD Card. The theme files should be placed in:
