U-M Kinesiology, in partnership with the U-M Medical School, is one of the very first programs in the U.S. to offer an undergraduate intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) curriculum that includes time in an operating room assisting surgical staff.

IONM is used for localization of neural structures and for early detection of intraoperative injury, allowing for immediate corrective measures.
