Frustration after a stroke
"I was frustrated. I couldn't believe that it happened to me. So I told myself that I had to be strong—and I think I was."
"My arm was dangling and I was bumping into things, and I wasn't feeling it because I just didn't know how to handle an arm that's dangled there. Before I started using the H200 my arm was very rigid and it did nothing—just nothing. My hand was very cramped. My shoulder was very weak and I had a tremendously hard time lifting it or making it do anything."
"I remember so many times I was trying to move my arm [in therapy]—I just couldn't. So that was a bad day."
LaVerne uses her hand again
"Through therapy and through use of the Bioness [NESS H200] I could lift my arm, I could move it. The Bioness [NESS H200] has helped me release that cramped feeling. I can straighten [my hand] quite well now."
"Now I've reached the point when I want to do some packing or something like that I can do it on my own. I can carry my mixer from the pantry to the counter. And I'm using my left hand to help stabilize things. I can peel vegetables with a knife. When I'm reading I can hold a page so that the page doesn't flip on me; when I write a check I can hold the checkbook cover so that it stays where it's supposed to. Those are simple little things, but I couldn't do them before."
LaVerne's advice
"There's nothing that is going to help you work [more] quickly than this H200. I would say go for it. It helped me so fast. I feel whole again. I feel whole because I can do so many more things than I could before I started using the H200."
