Holocaust survivor and scholar Meir Meller (Melers),author most recently of 'The Earth we Must Remember' (in Russian; Latvian and and English translations are planned) recalls the shooting at Jews trying to escape Riga on 27 June 1941 in a part of the city not yet occupied by the German invaders. He and his family were shot at outside Gertrude Street 20. He also discusses the discrepancy between multiple eyewitness testimony on pre-German-arrival shooting in various locations in Latvia and the official history which claims otherwise. An excerpt from a longer interview at a Riga cafe on 27 November 2011.
