JASON VALE WINS STRONSEST ARM MVP AWARD
Returning title holders and hungry contenders share the winners’ circle at the NYC Sit-Down Arm Wrestling Championships, at Cheap Shots Sports Bar in Flushing, Queens, NY.

Last Sunday, March 1, 2015, the New York Arm Wrestling Association presented the NYC Sit-Down Arm Wrestling Championships at Cheap Shots Sports Bar in Flushing and sponsored by the Quantum Wellness Healing Center of Syosset, LI and Ironmind.com. The Overall MVP awards were sponsored by Ironmind.com and Captains of Crush Grippers. The Snowy day did not stop some 67 contestants and some 200 spectators, die-hard fans, family and friends from coming to the event as they cheered with for both the favorites and underdogs in an awesome display of strength, endurance and explosive raw energy.

The 198 pound right champion was Jason Vale from Bellerose, Queens who took first place in his weight class and then he beat all the winners of the day’s competition in their respective weight classes to win the right hand overall MVP award and $100 cash prize. The left hand overall MVP was won by Scott Latella from Rotterdam, NY. The female right and left open class it was Princess Israel from Brooklyn who was honored as the right and left hand overall champion by beating all comers to capture the Women’s Bronx Strongest Arm Award. Bronx won the team Championship.

A tough, versatile pro, veteran arm wrestler,176 pound Angel Cosme from Flushing, had the audience in a screaming, cheering-frenzy as he beat all the right and left hand winners to take the Arm-Star Award Another Queens amateur winner was Super heavy weight left handed David Milburn from Jamaica. In all, there were fifteen weight classes with pro, amateur and master 45+ years old categories. This was the first NYAWA NYC Sit-Down Championship in 12 years. Since there were no residency requirements, contestants from out of state and even foreign countries competed in the open walk-in contest.

“This much-anticipated NYC Sit-Down Championship is the first event of the 2015 New York Arm Wrestling Season. The next event scheduled is the May 3, 2015 38th Annual NYC Big Apple Grapple International and crowns the King and Queen of Arms. The NYC Big Apple Grapple is the most prestigious arm wrestling title in New York City The NYAWA will then begin the NY Golden Arm Series where events are held in each of the five NYC Boroughs and Long Island and culminates into the 38TH Annual Empire State Championships next November, said Gene Camp, founder and president of the New York Arm Wrestling Association. “The NYC Sit Down was one the best events ever for a snowy day afternoon. We are happy about the turnout of top quality arm wrestlers, first-time beginners and teams, plus the exciting and eager captive audience who cheered all day long.” Camp, added.
