Abstract: Sample size and power calculations are important when investigators design their studies. The investigators may find free websites for the calculation useful. We will describe the basics of sample size including the definitions of statistical hypotheses, significance level, and statistical power. We will also introduce several free websites for the calculation. Examples including comparing means and proportions will be illustrated via one of the free websites.
