This looks looks like it could just be a mod for Civ V!

Dude... almost EVERYTHING you complemented about this game is THE EXACT SAME AS CIVILIZATION 5! THIS IS A (MAGIC) CIV 5 CLONE!!! It could just be a DLC for Civ 5 since the ui is THE EXACT SAME
The Crimson Fucker
Fondly enough, the Donkey Cavalry(The Stubborn Knights) are one of the most powerful units in the game! I shit you not, in my current game, I got a single unit of Stubborn Knights IN THE BEGINNING, twelve hours later, and quite a bit of investment in getting them every perk available, I've a level 8 unit of Donkey Cavalry -  you know what they do? Kill Golden Dragons in one attack, run down entire armies of veterans, TAKE OVER CITIES BY THEMSELVES. Also, by me, the best units in the game: Stubborn Knights Giant Turtles Ancient Liches Elder Vampires Healers. I've just gotten to playing around with Dragons, and Dracoliches are rather powerful, but not enough to justify the price tag. If you want to steam-roll an additional world, or any empire in the game(no mater how powerful), get an unit or two of Stubborn Knights, two units or Ancient Liches, a Giant Turtle and an unit of Healers. Note: Giant turtles damage everything their target hex, and the one behind that one. Note: For the Giant Turtles and Stubborn Knights - enchant them with the levitation spell. Trust me, you'll find it infinitely useful. Lastly: Methinks that the Undead are the best race to play.

I started loving this game when I hired a giant to destroy an enemy city, and a giant squid attacked my ship.
The original MoM was one of my favourite games, so I have always watched out for the "remakes". Personally loved Age of Wonders II, which did a very good job in that regard. It had the strategy, the variety, beautiful art, and things like covering your entire realm in snow/ashes/swamp as the respective mage. That would be one thing I do not immediately like about this title - looking at that, I see the grid more than I see the land. It does not quite have the magical atmosphere, which is very much there in all of the AoW titles.
its basically like civ
Not a bad game. Good way to kill a few hours.
It's on sale on steam right now for $4.99 and the ultimate edition, with all the DLC is $6.24. It's worth it!
