England's first opponents at Euro 2012, France, have been set a target of reaching the quarter-finals by coach Laurent Blanc.
The Euro 2000 winners have reduced their expectations after an appalling showing at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa where they failed to qualify for the knockout stages. The squad was riven by infighting which culminated in a public revolt led by several members of the squad.
And Blanc, part of the French team crowned World Cup winners in 1998, is well aware of the nation's scepticism concerning their chances.
LAURENT BLANC: "Look, I think we are all in the same mood, after what happened in 2010. We want to reach the last eight at Euro 2012. After you reach the quarter-final, anything could happen, and you obviously know that already, but let's have at least this as our objective, because in the last two international competitions, France did not even manage to get through the first round."
