On the 31st of August, 1957, Malaysia claimed independence under the leadership of the first Prime Minister and Father of Independence, Tunku Abdul Rahman. Merdeka -- independence or freedom in the Indonesian and Malay language -- is a great time to reflect on what we have achieved as well as look forward to new visions and success. During this celebratory month, what better way than to highlight a list of young and inspiring Malaysians!

Life Inspired is proud to present Tastemakers, a brand new original production that heralds young and influential Malaysians that made their way into the history book. Be it from the fashion, culinary, design, performing arts or entrepreneurial field, these blooming talents have proven themselves as the cream of the crop to become one of the most successful and undoubtedly inspiring personalities that Malaysia has to offer.

Featuring exclusive interviews with today's quintessential 'tastemakers': Yuna, a local music phenomenon in the U.S.; the youthful team behind +Wondermilk, a company that does branding and designs for esteemed organizations and later expending into the F&B business; Low Ngai Yuen, award-winning director, head of Kakiseni, TV host, radio producer and DJ; Benjamin Yong, founder of Delicious & D'lish, which he sold for RM11mil (USD3.6mil) and started The BIG Group, the country's fastest growing F&B chain; Omar Khan, a national visual merchandising guru who has gone on to become a design legend in Hong Kong; Priscilla Shunmugam, founder of the clothing line Ong Shunmugam, who won Designer of The Year at the 2012 Elle Awards in Singapore; Joel Neoh who earned his first million at the tender age of 20; Sereni & Shentel who had their signature headbands worn by main characters in Gossip Girls and Desperate Housewives, and Lady Gaga herself.

Catch this first-of-its-kind Malaysian-themed show, only on Life Inspired.
