Aselefech Evans joined her adoptive family in the US with her twin sister
Adanech when they were 6 years old. Now 23, she is a senior at the University of Maryland, majoring in Family Science. Aselefech has presented about transracial adoption, grief and loss in adoption, hair/skin care for Ethiopian adoptees, and maintaining heritage. As a young adult, she has reconnected with her birth family in Ethiopia and in Seattle.

Maureen McCauley is the mom of Aselefech and Adanech Evans, as well as of
two sons, Sean and Christopher. Her professional background is in child
welfare advocacy, including as executive director of the Joint Council on
International Services and CHSFS East. She has presented workshops on ad\
option and foster care issues across the US and in Canada.

Ethio Youth Media TV staff members, Sultan Mohamed and Fistum Aberra had a conversation with Aselefech and Maureen in the studio of MMRTI at 23rd & Jackson on March 21, 2012.
