Global Citizen Festival is an action rewarded, awareness driven music festival in Central Park where fans take action to earn tickets. Neil Young, Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, John Legend, Band of Horses and K'Naan played in 2012.
On September 29th, 2012, as the world's leaders gathered in New York for the UN General Assembly, the Global Festival brought top artists and 60,000 change-makers together on the Great Lawn of Central Park to urge our leaders and fellow citizens to do more to help end extreme poverty.
This free ticketed advocacy concert celebrates the progress already made in fighting extreme poverty, worked to secure financial commitments for tackling extreme poverty and disease, and mobilized thousands of individuals to make real change. We united around a simple yet powerful idea: that by giving every child a chance to thrive, our generation can end extreme poverty.
