"The Sound of Silence was written in February 1964 by Paul Simon and originally recorded as an acoustic piece for the first Simon and Garfunkel album, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. released October 19, 1964 by Columbia records. It was later overdubbed with electric guitar (played by Al Gorgoni), electric bass (Bob Bushnell), and drums (Bobby Gregg), and released as a single in September 1965, resulting in Simon and Garfunkel's first hit. The version presented here is the original acoustic one. This sound recording is administered by SME. No copyright infringement is intended.
