Katherine Franke, the Sulzbacher Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Gender & Sexuality Law at Columbia Law School, was scheduled to speak at the Equality Forum's 2012 Summit panel on Legal Issues on May 4, 2012. In this video she explains why she decided to boycott the conference and offers her analysis of the Israeli government's manipulation of gay rights organizations in the U.S., such as the Equality Forum, to "pinkwash" its troubled human rights record.

Because the Equality Forum selected Israel as its "featured nation" and accepted sponsorship from the Israeli Embassy and Ministry of Tourism, Franke boycotted the panel in keeping with the call for an academic and cultural boycott of Israeli and Israeli-sponsored events such as this (usacbi.org).
