In a House Financial Services Committee hearing just now, former Senator Phil Gramm (architect of several pieces of financial deregulation which led to the financial crisis) was asked to speak on the CEO-to-median-worker pay ratio rule. Former Senator Gramm used it as an opportunity to speak out about the victimhood of wealthy CEOs:

"The one form of bigotry that is still allowed in this country is bigotry against the successful."

"My friend Ed Whitacre at AT&T, if there's ever been an exploited worker...he was exploited. It was an outrage!"
