This custom home features 5 copper Cupola structures above a Spanish Tile roof. The Cupola design is carried thru the entire home to the layout of the pool.

This solar grid-tie system features 30 Suniva American made 285 black on black solar panels. These will connect to a SMA Sunnyboy inverter with an emergency use circuit. Panels chosen meet Palos Verdes Art Jury aesthetic rules for solar installations.

This system is expected to generate 11,609 kWh a year of free solar power! The Federal Tax Credit of 30% off the total system price was a good motivator. The Southern California Edison (SCE) excessive price for retail power is a main motivator and is the focus of the system investment value.

Each Cupola houses 6 Suniva solar panels using a combination of S-5 clamps on the copper roof ridges (non-penetrating) and L-feet lag-bolted into support members and spanned with Uni-strut and SnapnRack solar racking.

The design by ABC Solar is meant to please the original architect and his Jenga game block home.

This video shows the solar panels being mounted and connected to the SCE grid. Also the video has titles, swoops, swipes and circles inside of circles spinning into new scenes... and stuff like that... And then the close and a 30 second ABC Solar commercial somewhere in the middle. Bubble, bubble, bubble.

This video features shots from a DJI Phantom 3 standard drone and a Cannon Rebel T5. Corel VideoStudio X7 is the project editor. Enjoy views from Catalina Island to Downtown Los Angeles from this home perched on the hillside in Rancho Palos Verdes, California in 2015.

The flat roof installation does reduce production but the look of the solar design is more important than its max efficiency.

While Youtube is processing this video I will continue to write about solar.

Solar photovoltaic technology was a a victory for Albert Einstein in his receipt of the Nobel Prize in Physics. Very cool indeed!

The DJI Phantom Standard drone has been amazing. It's height max is 400 feet which gives us a grand view of the horizon and the rooftop below. The DJI drone quickly showed its usefulness.

The DJI footage is 5 minutes and then an additional 7 minutes of photos of the project from raw roof to finished solar installation. The Corel VideoStudio X7 software was easy to edit each clip and present the installation in some value of sequence.

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes is to be commended for granting this permit over-the-counter on October 1, 2015. It was the first solar permit issued after the Solar Permit Streamlining Act came into effect on September 30, 2015. Rancho Palos Verdes is great!

Thank you to Jackson Ross Productions and the great ABC Solar's Mike Bartz solar installation team.
