Words and music to one of Fr. Eric's favorite songs. Fr. Eric Freed (1957 -2014) was a vibrant Catholic priest, pastor of St. Bernard Parish in Eureka, CA, having served as priest, shepherd, and educator in various places in northern California and the San Francisco Bay area . He was ordained in Japan where he lived for many years, and was lingual in many languages. He died a tragic death, at the hands of another, in his rectory on New Year's Day, 2014. Father Eric frequently preached that life, and all of our blessings, belongings, and graces were a gift from God. At the New Year's Eve Mass, just hours prior to his death, he asked his congregation to sit in silence, and thank Our Father in Heaven for all that he has given each us not only throughout the past year, but throughout our lifetime. We did and so did he. Please enjoy this hymn that he told his congregation was one of his favorite. It brought his to tears on the altar when the St. Bernard Choir performed it. There are no pictures ....only words and music. I hope that this will be a way to meditate on the prayer, the music and your own images of Fr. Eric as you watch and listen.
