They explain it to us on the first day, but basically because we're all on campus during the summer we are supposed to be supervised by the band directors and associate dean of music. If anything happens during band camp, during rehearsals, or on trips the directors and associate dean are responsible as well as the person who caused the accident. When we're not in band camp or on a trip they aren't responsible. Band camp mostly because it's technically out of university hours.

they wouldnt be responsible........they have no control over what the driver does. its like saying one of your band members are walking down the street, crosses the street on campus and gets hit by a car........would he be responsible for that too? no he wouldnt. he wouldnt be held responsible for any of it, it would be the street racer who hit the person.

I don't think anyone thought any of you would purposely try to hurt someone or anything like that, I think it was more accidents happen and he can't afford to risk that. Especially when it seemed like a few people weren't being very smart with their actions. If anything WERE to happen, even if it were just an accident, the school of music would be directly responsible. I think that's why they waited until our practice let out before public safety came.

i understand his concern but plenty of people are dramatic as hell with this shit and it gets old. we are not going to put someone elses life in danger, why would we do that when that alone could take away our cars, which for most is our pride and joy...........ur dean of music needs to chill out, i was there for a good half hr and ppl were driving respectfully just sitting in the parking lot for the most part.

It was probably the associate dean of music, he told us to be careful going back to our dorms because he saw a few people driving a bit recklessly. His priority is the students, so that's probably why he called public safety. I mean there are 360 students he's in charge of so although it sucked for you guys and was a bit unfair, it's understandable that because a few people decided to be stupid he had to do what he had to do to make sure everyone was safe.

id still take a sax over drums anyday to march with

ok ur right, i was rude. but i cant stand when ppl or someone, more than likely from YOUR band calls the cops to come kick us out when we were simply sitting there...........parked! minus the ONE row where we all pulled in at to get pic shots of our cars as we pulled in. but sorry for all the swearing, it wasnt called for. ur right.

Tenor saxophone, which is much less weight distributed than tenors although it weighs less it's more of a strain on your back. I was told that by someone in our drumline.
