Thomas Alan "Tom" Waits (born December 7, 1949) is an American singer-songwriter, composer and actor. Waits has a distinctive voice, described by critic Daniel Durchholz as sounding "like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car." Waits voice, like L. Cohen, is probably an acquired taste and a voice that won't work with more songs than it will. But some songs just lend themselves to a raspy, "well worn" voice and this is one of them. For more Waits music on iTUnes go here: http://tinyurl.com/6c5h7ms
I wanted to expand my ability to work with different types of music and lyrics. This was both challenging and fun. Several hours are spent selecting photos and then editing them (to varying degrees) before I achieve the effect I want. Then it's a matter of finding photos that compliment the lyrics and/or music and playing with possibilities. Sometimes you have to get creative during musical interludes in songs. In this case, I created a bit of a story line to connect the two verses. This project was completed in a day's time. I do struggle over details and timing and frequently ask my wife for her opinion. Thanks for watching.
