Nearly six decades of Saint Mary's students benefitted from the pioneering teaching methods, knowledge and dedication of a legendary professor. Brother Charles started the Saint Mary's Biology Department in 1933. The following year he became one of the first to teach the new science of ecology, taking great advantage of the surrounding bluffs, Mississippi River and trout streams. A science building is named for Brother Charles, and he was honorary president of the college until his passing in 1992 at the age of 95. This video is drawn from a longer interview in 1987.
